While the modern world continues to struggle with religious fanaticism on the one hand, and scientific materialism on the other, the film presents new common ground that embraces a spirituality rooted in direct experience and science.

The Birth of a Holistic Worldview
The notion that the evolutionary process is ultimately driven by a spiritual impulse is now popular and more widely accepted than ever. One of the immediate implications of this view is that we are all, inevitably evolving towards a state of God consciousness—a spiritually enlightened state in which we no longer experience ourselves as separate from the Divine. Thus, God finds expression through each of us, manifesting through our newfound consciousness a more reasonable, intelligent, compassionate world.
Another implication of a spiritual-evolutionary process is that God’s communication with humanity does not end with ancient texts, but is ongoing and continuously active. Thus, "Truth," or the Revelation of God, is not one eternal and unchanging dogma, but rather unfolds with our expanding consciousness. To many traditional religious followers, this is heresy, conflicting with the established canon of beliefs that maintain a static view of creation and a dualistic split between human and divine natures.
The Great Divides Western culture perpetuates many artificial divides. It upholds schisms between mankind and nature, body and mind, matter and spirit, secular and sacred, intellect and soul, and science and spirituality. These deeply embedded societal beliefs reinforce our own divided nature, which projected outwardly, act as our greatest barriers to evolution of consciousness. The disastrous impacts of this lack of integration and the narrow assumptions derived from it have become globally visible. It’s offspring: fragmentation, polarization, dualism, stress, alienation, and cultural pathologies are forcing us beyond our ability to cope individually, collectively, biologically, and ecologically. A radical shift in consciousness which embraces more holistic worldviews may be our only hope. |
